I believe this is the world’s first Vending Machine which serve prescription drugs. AVM (Anytime Vending Machines) will  be operational on next Monday (28 January 2008) in California. Californian can buy Medical Marijuana from this machine.  AVMs is located in a stand alone room protected by round-the-clock security guards.

It basically work the same as common vending machines where you can buy soft drinks, coffee, condoms, chips and candy. However, since it serve non Over the Counter drugs selling, you need more than just a coin to use it. You will need a license which cost about US$200 (you get a prepaid credit card with all of your health details store in it).  A fingerprint taken is also needed.
